After a rock slide in the area in 2004, the unsteady slope caused the roadway leading to the inn to upheave, culminating in a near slide in October 2009.

Work to stabilize the slope closed the parkway on and off from N.C. 191 to N.C. 151, forcing travelers to take a detour to get to the inn.

“That definitely deters things,” said Allyson Long, who works the front desk at the Pisgah Inn. “In the beginning it was slow (last year), but after it (the area) opened up, things picked up just like normal.”

To stabilize the slope, workers installed about 280 bolts.

NEW Boeing KC-46A Tanker Program Contract!

Here's a note from one of our customers, another opportunity for Rieker AND providing new jobs in Pennsylvania!
Skip Gosnell, Rieker Inc.

KC-46A Tanker Supplier Team Member,

Yesterday we received the great news that The Boeing Company has received a contract from the U.S. Air Force to build the next-generation aerial refueling tanker aircraft that will replace 179 of the service's 400 KC-135 tankers. The contract calls for Boeing to design, develop, manufacture and deliver 18 initial combat-ready tankers by 2017.

We all feel honored to be given the privilege to provide the Air Force with this needed capability and recognize that our supplier partners have been key members of our team at every step of the way. As Dennis Muilenburg, Boeing Defense, Space & Security president and CEO stated in our news release, "This contract award would not have been possible without the hundreds of Boeing employees across the entire company, and the thousands of our industry teammates, who remained laser-focused on our commitment to offer a solution that is first in capability and best in value." The entire release can be accessed by clicking here.

We are ready now to start working on the program and applying our decades of experience to the effort. And we look forward to having you on the team as we go forward.

All the best,

Maureen Dougherty
Vice President and Program Manager, Boeing KC-46A Tanker Program
